Textured Candy Cane Bracelet Video Tutorial Revamp

At Christmas of 2014, I put out my very first video tutorial for the Textured Candy Cane Bracelet. It's made with a modified DNA Spiral Stitch, so it works up quickly, and requires a little bit of Wire Wrapping for the ends. I have revamped the video a bit, cutting out almost 10 minutes of time, without compromising the information you receive. If you make one, I'd love to see it!

Free Peyote Stitch Pattern: Pumpkin Patch Bracelet

Hey Everybeady!  I have here a free seasonal bracelet pattern for you!  It only takes 5 bead colors, and is made using Even-Count Peyote Stitch, with a
Peyote Decrease. This pattern is 30 beads wide.  The finished pattern, as shown, is approximately 6-7/8” when made with 11/0 Cylinder Beads. Your chosen method of clasp attachment will add to the length.  I chose not to continue the Silver-plated ribbon detail into the decrease in my finished photo, but I included it in the pattern just in case you wanted to use it! This pattern is for your own personal and small business use!  You may feel free to sell any items that you, yourself, have made using all or part of it, but I do ask that you not mass produce the item represented here, nor teach the pattern for profit.

Left click on each picture, and choose Save As from the dropdown box to download the pattern.  It should download it in a higher resolution than shown.

I'd love to see your finished piece!  Post yours on my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/PeacockBeadShop/ , or email me at Megan@PeacockBeadShop.com to show me your work.

Happy Beading!

Megan

The 'Eyes' Have It!

The new Swarovski 'Eye' Fancy Stones are up in the web shop!  I decided on three color: Blue, Green, and Red Brown.  They measure 10.5x18mm, and have no hole.  Glue-in settings are forthcoming, but these can also be beaded around, or you can use Crystal Clay as well.

Each photo is clickable to the product.

Just in: White Ultrasuede

I've added White Ultrasuede to the website!  Winter is coming, afterall, and we might need it!

This is the brightest white currently made.

This is a great backing for beadwork, as well as millinery bits, and costumes.  Elsa anyone?

New Swarovski Crystals/Discontinued Style

I found some factory packs of discontinued Swarovski Crystal Bicone style #5301 to share with you!  They're in packs of 36 pieces. These are listed in both the Web Store, and the Etsy Shop, so you can purchase them either place.

The colors are:

Vitrail Medium

Olivine 2xAB

 White Opal AB

Lime AB

*Cricket. Cricket*

So why have I been so quiet lately?  Because of the Bead&Button Show deadline, that's why!

This time of year, I spend a month or more creating new things, and testing them out, scrapping some ideas, and trying again so that I will be able to send in brand new class proposals to teach at Bead&Button the next year!  What did I come up with?

Well, these Glittering Firefly Brooch/Pendants for starters!  I also like to call this project "Working out the Bugs"!  They have been very well received by everyone so far, so I really hope they get picked!

And this necklace whose pendant some of you saw me working on at the end of May/ beginning of June.  It features a natural jewel beetle wing (elytra), and Swarovski Crystal Scarabs.

And, by popular request, I sent in Crystallized Bamboo Knitting Needles!  This is a fun and easy project that most students would finish in a 3 hour class.

Now, it usually takes a while for them to narrow-down the selections, so I'll let you know what they decide on.

Candy Corn Bracelet Kit

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and candy corn is a perfect symbol for it.

This kit includes the full-color patter with design suggestions, as well as 11/0 seed beads and findings to create a 7.5" bracelet in Odd-count Peyote Stitch.  Decreasing is involved.

Click on the picture to take you straight to it!

Giant Navette-shaped Swarovski Crystals!

I found some of these at the Bead&Button Show for my personal use, but many of you requested them for your own designs, so I hunted them down for you.

The first color is Crystal Clear with a foil backing, but there are more to come!

Want one?  Click on the pictures!

Now Available: Jewel Beetle Wings, Undrilled and Double Drilled

Many of you have been asking for me to list some of the Beetle Wings (Elytra), that I've been using in recent projects, so here they are!

I have disinfected these, and culled the herd from the ones that will break easily (though these are still a fragile component), and have stock in Undrilled, and Double Drilled available for your creative process.

Peacock Feather Earring Kit: Purple/Blue Colorway

Freshly back from the Bead&Button Show (I will post more on that later once I've got my ducks in a row), I have added the Peacock Feather Earring Kit in the Purple/Blue colorway to the website.  This is one of my most popular colorways, so I hope that you enjoy it!

Ultrasuede

Though I've had Ultrasuede for a long time in my Etsy bead shop, I have only now begun adding it to my regular website.  Sorry it took so long!  I really do love Ultrasuede to back a great many of my jewelry designs, so having a good stock of colors is essential.  The website currently has these colors:

Scoundrel Red

Black Onyx

Egyptian Green

There is currently a wider selection of colors on the PeacockBeadShop.Etsy.com, but rest assured that they will make their way over to the regular site in good time.

May the 4th Be With You!

Any of you who know me, know what a big nerd I am, and today is International Star Wars Day, so May the 4th be With You!  I'm not sure who the artist of this is, but if you know, please tell me!

I took an Enameling Class!

This past weekend was the Rocky Mountain Bead Bazaar, held annually by the Rocky Mountain Bead Society, and I had the opportunity to take two classes involving Enameling with Kieu Pham Grey.  I loved them both!  The first was entitled Silver Illuminations and, as you might imagine, it involved enameling over Sterling Silver metal.  The second was called Riveting Enamels, which was enameling over copper, and the use of traditional rivets, affixed with a center punch, and hammer.  I enjoyed both classes, and now my mind is swimming with ideas on how to incorporate these techniques into my work.

Metallic Blue Iris Cabs

I saw these, and immediately had to have them!  They are Preciosa brand Glass cabochons in jet black with a Metallic Blue Iris finish.  These are the 25x18mm size.  I would love to see what you do with them!

Evil Eye Cabs

I've always had a fascination with the symbol of the Evil Eye, so when I saw these hand-painted Preciosa Glass Cabs, I had to pick them up!  I liked these because they were a real oval shape, which is more rare than you'd think.  They are 18x13mm in size, and these two colors are a muted Hazel Green, and a bright Bermuda Blue.
I hope that you enjoy creating with them!

Tulip Beading Needles

  size11tulipbn.jpg  size10longtulipbn.jpg
I don't know about you, but I am in LOVE with Tulip Beading Needles!  They are sturdy enough to last through a long project without the needle looking like a pretzel in the end, the blunted tip on the longs keeps them from splitting threads, and the gold-colored eye makes threading a breeze.
I've added 3 colors to the shop, Size 10 Short, Size 10 Long, and Size 11 Long, but there are more sizes available in my Etsy Shop.

New Beginnings

My website, www.PeacockBeadShop.com, has long since been informational only, but I would love it to be more!  I've decided to upgrade it as a selling platform for my patterns and kits, as well as curated choices from my bead hoard to share with you!  Obviously I will still keep up my Etsy sites because that's just not something you mess with, but I do hope that you will check out my offerings on my regular website.
Today I added the fourth and fifth items to the store, but this is only the beginning. I've decided to start out with my patterns and kits, and move on to the nifty beads, crystals, and findings that I come across to share with you. I hope you will love what I come up with, and I look forward to beading with you.

I have added a page that links to my Etsy Bead Shop, which currently houses 500 items for you to have a look at in the meantime.
Happy Beading,
Megan
